• Furthering the joy of God's people, to His glory, as we celebrate and defend the truth of the Gospel.

  • Equipping the saints to fulfill the charge of 2 Corinthians 10:5: "Destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ."

The Patristic Roots of the Reformation

The Historical Basis For Evangelical Belief

Featuring

David T. King

Minister of Christ Presbyterian Mission (OPC) in Elkton, MD

In the first century Jude wrote about the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3).
The sixteenth century reformers, men like Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwingli, and John Knox sought to restore the medieval church to that standard.
They were convinced they were not introducing something new to the church,
but restoring foundational doctrines that were upheld by the Christian leaders of the first few centuries, the Church Fathers;
doctrines such as salvation by grace alone through faith alone, and the Bible as the final rule for Christian faith and practice.
Was the great tree of the Reformation supported by Patristic roots?
Is there not only biblical basis, but also historical basis for Evangelical belief?

Pastor King holds a M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, MS.

He is co-author with William Webster of the three volume work, Holy Scripture: The Ground and Pillar of Our Faith, which is a defense of the Reformation principle of sola Scriptura,
and has contributed articles to Tabletalk magazine and The Reformed Baptist Theological Review.

His work has exposed the many errors and massive historical revisionism in which popular Roman Catholic apologists engage on the issue of Scripture and tradition.
He has been a guest on Christian talk radio as well as a featured speaker at Bible conferences dealing with various issues of Roman Catholicism.
